Who we are

Oddly Useful Software operates oddlyuseful.software and provides Dock Mirror. Contact us at support@oddlyuseful.software about privacy questions.

Support requests

When you contact support, we receive your name, email address, selected issue, message, and any optional version details you provide. We use this information to respond, troubleshoot, and keep relevant support correspondence.

Website operation

Our website and hosting providers may process technical request information, such as IP addresses, browser details, and security logs, to deliver and protect the site. Administrative sign-in uses cookies. Any additional analytics or optional services will be described before they are enabled.

Payments and downloads

PayPal processes payment information under its own privacy policy. We receive the order details needed to provide downloads, answer purchase questions, and maintain required business records. Do not include card details in a support message.

Registration and license checks

Registration links your paid order, purchase email and license key to a device public key and a product-specific hash of the Mac hardware identifier. We do not receive the raw hardware identifier. We email a verification code to confirm access to the purchase email. The app saves its device key and signed registration in macOS Keychain without iCloud synchronization. Activated copies work offline indefinitely. Online update checks also check license status, but connection failures do not disable an activated copy.

Download and activation connection records

We record the connection IP and time for authenticated download requests, activation and license-management events, and online update checks to investigate misuse and provide support. A request record does not prove a download finished, and an IP address does not uniquely identify a person or Mac. IP changes alone do not automatically block a license. IP addresses are cleared from these license-event records after 90 days. Hosting or payment providers may keep their own security records under their policies.

Dock Mirror permissions

Dock Mirror uses macOS Accessibility access for live Dock checks, badge labels, and eligible window controls. Copy Native Dock Appearance uses a separate screen-recording permission for filtered Dock capture; captured frames stay in memory. If Remember App Window Positions is enabled, eligible window titles, document URLs, monitor identifiers, and frames are stored locally for placement restoration. Clear Remembered Window Positions removes those saved records without deleting documents. Grant or revoke access in System Settings. The app does not request Full Disk Access, microphone access, or audio recording. This website notice does not replace the permission explanations shown during app setup.

Service providers and retention

Hosting, email, and payment providers process the information needed to provide their services. We retain support and order records for as long as needed to handle requests, operate the business, and meet applicable recordkeeping obligations.

Your requests

Contact support to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information we hold about you. We may need to verify your identity and retain records where required by law. Any additional rights available under applicable law remain available to you.

Changes

We will update this page when our practices change.
