Up and running, step by step.
A straightforward guide to your first Dock Mirror setup.
Before you start
- A Mac running macOS 13 or later. The download includes Apple silicon and Intel executables; copied native Dock artwork requires macOS 14 or later. Current hands-on validation is on Apple silicon running macOS 27.2, and Intel hardware and older releases remain unverified.
- An additional monitor connected to your Mac.
- Permission to enable Accessibility access for Dock Mirror in System Settings.
1. Download and install
After purchasing, download Dock Mirror. If the download is a ZIP, open it first, then open the Dock Mirror disk image. Drag Dock Mirror into Applications.
2. Open Dock Mirror
Open your Applications folder and launch Dock Mirror. Confirm the normal macOS first-open prompt if shown.
Register this Mac
Enter the purchase email and license key from your order email, then enter the six-digit verification code we send you. First activation needs an internet connection. After registration, Dock Mirror keeps working offline indefinitely. Use License & Registration in the menu bar to view your license or get help.
3. Enable the required access
Follow Dock Mirror’s setup instructions to open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. On some macOS versions the access may be labeled Device Control and Data Access. Enable the installed Dock Mirror app. Authenticate directly with macOS if asked.
This access supports live Dock inspection, badge labels, and controlling eligible windows. For Copy Native Dock Appearance, use Allow Dock Capture in the app’s setup and enable Dock Mirror under Screen Recording, sometimes called Screen & System Audio Recording. This is separate from Accessibility. Follow any macOS instruction to quit and reopen the app, then return to setup to complete its live checks. Dock Mirror does not request Full Disk Access, Input Monitoring, microphone access, or audio recording. Enter your Mac password only in the macOS authentication prompt.
4. Choose your display
Select the additional monitor and your preferred Dock position. Dock Mirror can remain visible, with hiding available when you choose to use it.
5. Check your setup
Open an app from the mirror and compare its badge with your Mac Dock. If access was changed or refreshed, quit and reopen Dock Mirror.
Reinstalling or moving to another Mac
The same key includes two self-service reinstall recoveries on the same Mac if its saved registration was lost. Reopening or updating an already registered copy does not consume a recovery. To move to another Mac, choose License & Registration → Deactivate This Mac while online, then activate the replacement. If the old Mac is lost or broken, contact Support to release it after verifying your purchase.
Updates and offline use
Choose Check for Updates in the menu bar, or use the automatic update-check option in License & Registration. Online update checks also verify license status. Your purchase includes all 1.x updates; future major upgrades may cost extra. There is no offline countdown. A failed connection does not disable a registered copy. A confirmed revocation pauses the mirror and preserves your settings until registration is restored.
Window spacing: Dock Mirror can adjust eligible windows to make room for its Dock. This uses Accessibility controls rather than Apple’s native system-reserved desktop area. Some window types and full-screen behavior can differ.
